Silke Financial Services Weekly Communiqué

FIND OUT MORE ABOUT OFFSHORE INVESTMENT & TRUSTS

We heartily invite you to join Silke Financial Services for an informative evening on the topic of Offshore Investment and Trusts.

Date: Wednesday 4 June 2008
Venue: Allan Gray Portswood Square V&A Waterfront

Background

Since the Exchange Control Amnesty in 2003 many questions remain unanswered in respect of the taxation of offshore trusts as well as disclosure of assets to SARS. In addition, the current global turbulence is causing many investors to re-evaluate their investment strategies in line with their capacity for risk.

This noteworthy presentation will cover:
  • Foreign Wealth succession planning through the use of Offshore Trusts
  • The case for investing offshore and the various methods of investing outside of South Africa
  • Foreign investment opportunities
Speakers

Dale Irvine, Financial Director, Sentinel International Advisory Services (Pty) Ltd:
Succession, Taxation and Reserve Bank Implications of Foreign Wealth
If your offshore assets have been through the amnesty process, or were legitimate to start with (they may not be legitimate any longer), your administrative task is not yet done. Take this opportunity to:
  • Ask about proper disclosure to the SARS;
  • Avoid contravening the arcane SARB regulations;
  • Make sure that your assets devolve properly, quickly and effectively.
Dale obtained a Bachelor of Accounting degree (USB) 1993. Whilst with SARS in 1994 he completed his B-Compt (Hons). He obtained a Graduate Diploma in Accounting and qualified for admission to the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants whilst working for Greenwoods and served as an executive member of the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants junior board.
