On Women's Day, we celebrate and honour women. To recognise the important role of women who fought for their rights and dignity as they pushed back the regime's "pass" systems (identity documents that limited freedom of movement). In 1956, well over 20 000 women marched to the Union Building in Pretoria in fierce defiance of the oppressive apartheid laws.
Watch Sophia Williams De Bruyn reminisce with Adrian Steirn about the great women's march to the Union Buildings in 1956 and recount the dignity, bravery and courage of the women who changed the course of South African history.
On this day and hopefully every day, we celebrate the magic, beauty, love and strength in every woman. Thanks Mommy.
