Silke Financial Services is in the process of developing an integrated financial planning and financial coaching model: CFP® Integrated Coaching Model. This is a requirement for the Masters in Philosophy in Management Coaching that Shane is currently undertaking at the business school of the University of Stellenbosch.
To date our clients are familiar with our alignment of time-horizoned personal goals with financial planning. The basic premise is that self-esteem and self-actualization can only occur once the human need for safety has been established. (Maslow hierarchy of needs) Money doesn’t provide happiness, but ‘enough’ provides a secure platform for personal and career development.
The model in development aims to formally incorporate coaching tools into our existing financial planning process. The coaching tools that we use include:
- Positive financial planning conversations addressing the "whole person" their hopes, ambitions, life experiences, and relationships (both healthy and unhealthy) with money
- Action oriented goal setting
- Life scenario planning synergistically re-enforces goals and vice versa
- A Tool for eliminating dysfunctional thoughts - ABCDE Model
- Reflection
The evidence seems to indicate that for a person to succeed in an organizational setting their own personal lives must first be under control inculcating a sense of security and appropriate levels of self-confidence. This self-managed efficiency indirectly increases employee performance within organizations.
I hope to provide you with feedback once this exercise is complete. Thank you for your time!
