Goodbye 2011 Hello 2012

As 2011 leaves us with, amongst others, memories of an "undefeated" Springbok team, five new Silke babies, Quanita and Right passing their drivers test, Luvuyo finishing his second year art degree at UCT, Ken and Shane passing their industry exams, Quanita leaving us to study computers and my kids catching more fish than me [this year], I am reminded that it is the festive season once again.

Time for mistletoe kissing. I believe mistletoe is hung up in houses at Christmas and hopefully [if I can convince my wife] gives one the privilege of kissing whoever is under it! In the past this tradition was activated by plucking a berry from the bush. When the berries are all plucked, the privilege ceases.

Personally my goals for the remaining 2011 days is not to wish them away, but to enjoy every day to its fullest and find a mistletoe bush with lots of berries. Oh yes, let me not forget last year's Resolution #223: 'I will not spend my money frivolously, I will not...'

As most of you know my passion is to help myself and anyone who will listen to embark on a journey of financial freedom - not at age 65, but today!

So, my recommended goals for 2012:

1. Set up a personalised goal orientated budget aiming to spend less than you earn! How difficult can that be? [And you thought I would let you go on holiday without mentioning budgeting.]
2. Stay positive in thoughts and actions. [Remember you CANNOT think yourself into anything, you need to reinforce this with POSITIVE ACTION]

In closing, season's greetings to you all, a very Happy Christmas and Happy Chanukah [Hanukkah].

Please note that our offices close on 22 December and reopen on 12 January 2012. This will be our last Communiqué until mid-January 2012. Should you experience any emergencies during this period contact Shane (cell 082 373 2899) and he will assist you where possible.
